Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park is an 800-square-kilometer national park in the province of East Java in Indonesia. It is a volcanic region between land, sea, and rivers. The highest point above sea level is Mount Semeru at 3,676 meters high. This volcano is still active, so you can see the smoke rising from the top. To the south of the park, there is a high, rolling plateau cut by valleys and dotted with several small, picturesque lakes, stretching to the foot of Mount Semeru. The four main lakes of the park are Ranu Pani, Ranu Regulo, Ranu Kumbolo and Ranu Darungan. There are also about 50 rivers in the park, providing breathtaking scenery.
The park protects endangered species such as Fagaceae, Moraceae, Sterculiaceae, Casuarina junghuhniana, Anaphalis longifolia, and some 200 different species of orchids.
There are also 137 bird species, 22 mammal species, and 4 reptile species. You can see the besra hawk, the green peacock, the Java deer, the dhole, and even the Java panther.
